Belgrade, Serbia, 18 June 2020
In these challenging times of global struggle to protect public health and address social justice and racial equality issues, we are pleased to report that during the last month our Blazo Nedic has been appointed to new mediation roles in two prominent international organizations.
In May, Blazo was first nominated and then appointed as an “Officer at Large” of the International Bar Association (IBA) Mediation Committee. The IBA is the foremost organization for international legal practitioners, bar associations and law societies, with over 80,000 individual members from 170 countries. Established in 1947, the IBA has a mission to contribute to global stability and peace through the promotion and protection of the rule of law. We are very proud that Blazo will have an opportunity to contribute to the work of the IBA Mediation Committee, where he will be responsible to support the Committee’s activities and, among others, contribute to the organization of the Annual and Mid-year meetings, the traditional CDRC mediation competition in Vienna, and also develop discrete mediation projects to address global mediation-related issues.
In June, Blazo was invited to become a member of the International Mediation Institute (IMI) Qualifying Assessment Program Appraisal Committee. IMI is the leading international non-profit organization driving professional standards for mediators and advocates involved in collaborative dispute resolution and negotiation all over the world. As a member of the IMI Appraisal Committee, Blazo will be tasked with reviewing and evaluating applications from organizations who wish to have their training programs approved as a Qualifying Assessment Program (QAP). Once approved, QAPs assess experienced mediators to the quality of IMI Certified Mediator. Hence, the work of the Appraisals Committee represents the “quality gateway” for mediators to become IMI Certified.
We feel truly proud that our co-founder and mediator Blazo Nedic received these appointments recognizing two decades of his work in promoting the rule of law and advocating for peaceful dispute resolution and mediation, in Serbia, the region and worldwide. We are confident that Blazo will use these opportunities to expand his knowledge and dispute resolution skills, and at the same time provide innovative and thought-leading contribution to both IBA and IMI in advancing their missions. We are excited for his promotion and looking forward to supporting Blazo in tackling new opportunities and challenges that these two positions may bring.
For more information on Blazo’s new positions and our work in general, please do not hesitate to contact us. We wish you to all stay healthy, safe and prosperous in these daring times.
